Discover the Treasures of the Chester Beatty Library, a museum and special collections
library located in the heart of Dublin, Ireland!

This app contains videos filled with high-resolution images and audio commentary
highlighting twenty of the Library’s most exquisite objects, each chosen especially by our curators. Each video invites you to explore one of these objects including:

- An important third-century early Christian codex containing the Four Gospels and Acts of the Apostles.
- A set of Albrecht Dürer’s most famous prints depicting the Apocalypse, A fifteenth-century Iranian manuscript page containing an exquisite arabesque illumination.
- A Qur’an written and illuminated by Ibn al-Bawwab, the best known of all Islamic calligraphers.
- A seventeenth-century scroll telling the most famous love story in Chinese history.
- A set of prints depicting Mount Fuji created by the celebrated Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.

Fourteen other special works of art are highlighted, complimented by videos about the
collection’s founder, Sir Alfred Chester Beatty and a history of his personal collection
which would later become the Chester Beatty Library. His rich collection of sacred and
secular manuscripts and objects from countries across Asia, the Middle East, North
Africa and Europe is open to the public free of charge so why not visit to see some of
